Holy Spirit Gives Rest

Holy Spirit Gives Rest

How Can We be Faithful in Our Witness, by Life and Word, to the Gospel of the Risen Christ?

In order to become faithful witness of Christ, one must constantly connect with the word of Christ as word of Christ allows our faith to grow (Romans 10:17). Without constantly connecting with the word of Christ our faith doesn't grow. Hence this is the first and foremost step in keeping constant vigil in our faith to mature to the next step.

For the fact, if one doesn't know the word of Christ, it is very difficult for us to offer the right prayer that pleases God. Only word of God teaches us how to pray in accordance to the will of the father. A person can give the right prayer only when the word is embedded within them. If only we have tasted the saving grace of Christ and only if we are convinced that Jesus is our Christ and Christ for the whole world, can we be able to powerfully proclaim the gospel. According to Acts 1:8, Jesus said one can witness powerfully when the Holy Spirit comes on us and will be able to witness him to the ends of the earth.

Also Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 3:15, has stated that we must be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have. According to 1 John 5:6, it is clear that spirit is the truth. Once we know the truth, we need to constantly look at the truth and plead to God to work amidst us empower us with the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit as it only the counselor can enable us to become a proper witness. Salvation is not man's work but it’s the handy work of God. Hence constantly communicating to Father through the name of Jesus will enable to taste the power of resurrection in our lives and constantly be able to bear witness in word and life. Overcoming the fear to witness effectively starts with examining our motive. The motive to glorify God cannot be easily discouraged or defeated. Actually, most Christians eventually faint when it comes to witnessing due to a motive that conflict with the will of God. After having grown in faith the first attitude a believer should have is the heart of unconditional love towards the lost souls. Only if there is heart of wanting to reconcile with lost Cain's of this world, can only truly follow with this heart and co-work with God in building this beautiful world of kingdom of God.

A wise believer is the one who wants to be a witness that produces fruit (Proverbs 11:30. This requires the right means. That is we must absolutely depend on the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:48-49). It is the Holy Spirit that does the work. This part so essential because the Holy Spirit is able to convict of sin (John 16:8-13) and it conveys the truth. Also Holy Spirit is the only one who can regenerate (John 3:5-8, Titus 3:5-7). Bearing fruit is directly proportional to repentance; one can bare fruits with repentance as in (Mathew 3:8).

In order to be an effective witness, one needs to surrender his life to Christ (Luke 9:23) and must be filled with Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). More important than preaching to others, it is very important to live by the word and set a personal example of Christ. So that by seeing our good deeds, others can give praise to father in heaven (Mathew 5:16).
